Elizabeth Vogdes  RA

Elizabeth Vogdes has nearly 30 years experience in the professional practice of architecture, which has included residential, commercial, and institutional work.  Her particular interest has always been in sensitively creating a close and appropriate fit, both functionally and aesthetically, between buildings and their users.  In the early 70’s as part of her architectural studies she examined how well various buildings on the Harvard University campus responded to user needs. In the course of her residential work she has designed numerous living environments with access and use specifically focused on people with disabilities.  She has also been involved with the design of play and learning structures for children at area schools.

In 2006 Ms. Vogdes worked with Poltronieri Tang & Associates in the development of the qualitative program document for the proposed new Penn State Children’s Hospital at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.  Ms. Vogdes holds a Master of Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, a Master of Arts in Architecture from Cambridge University, a Bachelor of Arts in the Designed Environment and Behavior from Harvard University.  She received the prestigious Thouron Fellowship while a student at the University of Pennsylvania in 1975.  Ms. Vogdes is licensed in Massachusetts.
